purpose of push-in type electrical connectors?
Quick question.
I will post a pic if need be. I have a wire coming off the fan that goes into an electrical connector (the push connection type). Well the wire is fraying and coming out of this connector. Does this connector serve any purpose—like is there a sensor of any sort or is it merely a connector? I was thinking about cutting both sides and jumping them together with a butt connector—but ONLY if the push-in connector served no functional purpose. Any reply appreciated! Thanks! -Mike |

A butt connector is fine........although their durability probably won't match the factory connector. |

Okay great thanks.
I'm sure the butt connector will work--I could solder it. The reason i'm asking is b/c only 3 of the actual 'wires' or stands of the conductor are handing out of the push-in connector. It's on it's last leg. And I just want to take precautionary measures. Thanks again. -Mike |

Why don't you use spade connectors (male & female) which will solve your problem and still make for easier removal of the fan. They are no more work to install than the butt connectors.
