its probably worth about $1300 despite the condition and miles.

I thought all w126s 85 and before were turbo.

No, it is. they sold the om617 turbo diesel in the s class since 1979 in the w116. The e classes however didn't get a standard turbo charger until 1982.

Your car shouldn't be dirt slow. I'd search the forums for why it's slow. for one start by getting rid of that Alda. clean the intake as well and get rid of egr.

1978, actually. I've seen 1981-built W123s with factory turbo engines, too, but it's possible they were built in late 1981 for the 1982 model year.

'81 wagons had the turbo, coupes and sedans started in '82.

If memory serves me right. I believe when the turbos where introduced in the 123 300 it was an option, then the next year is was standard.

Maybe MB was trying to clear its inventory of non turbo 123 300...

make sure your trans is adjust correctly. if it's shifting too early you'll have no power.

I forgot about the 81 wagons. They definitely needed the turbo with extra weight.

Date Of Turbo Inclusion W123

Interesting .

I looked at and prolly should have purchased, a 1981 300CD that had a turbo, it was battered and filthy but never crashed that I could tell and was $800 in the middle of the Diesel craze some years back .

1977 Mimosa Yellow Diesel Mercedes-Benz 240D Manual 4-speed - $3600 (berkeley)

A ray of California sunshine, this Mimosa Yellow Benzie is a rare find. You'll feel like a million bucks driving this classic, and kids will go nuts when you honk the air horn. It is well take care of and a pleasure to drive. It has a vintage green interior, and a sunroof to keep you cool as you cruise around town. There's also a new bluetooth stereo so you can always drive to your favorite music.

This car is extremely reliable and starts up quick, especially for a diesel. The engine was replaced in early 2017 with a newer motor that has updated glow plugs. Also, the front brake pads were replaced recently and it has a new battery. Overall, the car is in great shape but it is over 30 years old and shows some signs of wear, which are mostly aesthetic issues. Also included is an extra set of wheels with color-matched hubcaps. This car has been like an old friend to me, and I'm sad to see it go, but I'm hoping it finds the right owner who can appreciate it for all it's endless style.

1980 Mercedes 300GD G Wagen TurboDiesel 5-Speed - $23999 (hayward / castro valley)

This G Wagen was imported from the Netherlands and has the desirable OM603 TurboDiesel with a 5-Speed manual transmission. Very clean and solid overall for a classic W460 G Wagen that is 40+ years old now. Gets up to freeway speeds easily and is able to cruise no problem.

Frame is CLEAN with no rust!! Runs and drives great, although the battery is on its way out, I will have a new one installed for the buyer. Aside from the bad battery, the engine starts right up and is absolutely reliable. I keep it mostly stored and covered, and over the past year, have not noticed any leaks on my floor.

The truck was repainted in the metallic dark grey and the interior was reupholstered in black leather. Seats are clean with no rips. Interior is clean with all pieces intact!

Note: the snorkel in the pictures has since been removed so there are holes left over in the fender from it. Will need to reinstall a snorkel or just get them patched up. Original airbox/intake is included. Passenger side mirror is off, but I have a spare replacement which will be included.

Titled as a 1980 year with about 90,000 Kilometers. Triple differential locks. The G Wagen was essentially unchanged in its build and function since its inception, and these classic W460s are especially venerable.

Price is $24,000 OBO. Please call or email if interested.
