240D Engine and 4-spd transmission

Mercedes 240D Engine & Transmission

Mercedes 240D Engine & Transmission - $4000 (san mateo)

Mercedes Benz 240D 1982 Complete Engine & Manual Transmission. We are a high end Mercedes Benz (exclusive) repair shop in San Mateo (since 1988) We rebuilt this engine to new (New -pistons, valve job, oil pump, timing chain, starter motor, alternator, inj. pump, transmission bearings, clutch, on and on) The car was then totaled 22,000 miles later. We removed the engine/trans and were going to find a donor body and never did. Junk yard motors are $1500 with a zillion miles. This motor belongs in a car restoration project. Metric Motors sells 240D Long Blocks for $7450. This is an unusual find.

Went to see this one......

I went to see this car on Wednesday; it's a hike to get to it from my neck of the woods. I didn't make an offer. I will upload the rust pics I found.

Car has been stored in Barn for 15 years. Good body and interior. I have no knowledge of a diesel engine, so I haven't tried to start. Was being drove when parked in barn. Has clean title.

1982 Mercedes Benz 300td Wagon Euro Diesel w123

For $15K I need manual AC or power windows, not ACC *and* manual windows! What's with the frame around the ACC controls?

240D aspirator motor - rc diesel engine

Quote:
This is a working diesel engine with no more than 3 hrs running time max, it just looks really dirty and havent cleaned it, it doesnt require and glow plugs, you simply add a fly wheel to it and crabk it over and it starts up, the pressure from the piston is what heats the air and combusts the fuel, the fuel can be home made, many formulas on youtube will show you how, its 3 parts equally of kerosene which you can by at lowes, and any type of cooking oil, ie olive oil or vegtable oil from walmart and lastly is ether which you can get from a can of starting fluid, it evaporates slowly over time so is best to put it in a air tight container after mixing. This engine acts similar to a real full size diesel engine, it has about 2 1/2 times more torque and power for the same size glow engine and doesnt run nowhere near as hot and also for the same amount of fuel vs a glow engine this one will run about 4-5 times longer, its almost unbeleivable how much longer this will run and how little gas it sucks and still produces huge power for its size, ...

I had one of those on my RC helicopter. Worked great, until the great crash of 2014.

A tale of 2 116 SDs:

1980 Mercedes-benz 300SD diesel - waiting for seller to respond. It'd better have working AC at this price.

1980 Mercedes Turbo Diesel - too much work to bring to my DD standards but it's mostly there, no sunroof, no rust except for soft spots in the spare well. Seller's close to taking scrapyard offer.

3 2005 CDI's for $4500 each

Lastt I checked CDI prices around Philly they were mostly in the high 5k to 8k, not these three.

https://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/5936379939.html 164K with some headlight damage

https://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/5917077379.html 198K

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/5908369758.html 201K. Air dam scuffed and very toasty front seat.

I'm kind of tempted.

I'm kind of tempted.
This one's ad is still active. Looks good for the miles & price, but I doubt if it has 4WD. Not in the U.S. imported, to my knowledge. The wheels, are the Designo upgraded wheels, so, it may be loaded with options, being it's an '05.

Sold! 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Station Wagon mechanic special - $900 (sunnyvale)

1985 Mercedes-benz 300TD
VIN: WDBAB93C9FF031678
condition: excellent
cylinders: 5 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: diesel
odometer: 200000
paint color: white
size: full-size
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: wagon

1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD turbo diesel station wagon. Clean title. The car was donated to us a week ago and was running with absolutely no problem. Somehow it failed to start two days afterwards without an apparent reason. The starter motor works fine but the diesel engine won't start. It might be the glow plug circuit. According to the donor, the car had run for two years continuously without a glitch. Anyway, we are a 501(c)(3) organization engaged in news media and are not interested in keeping the car or repairing it. So our strategy is to significantly lower the price and sell it as mechanic special. Being a 1985 diesel, the car doesn't need to pass any smog check.

The car has been retrofitted to burn veggie oil besides diesel. The interior of the car is mostly pristine. The carpet in the cargo area is kind of dirty. Exterior paint is in very good condition. There's a chip and crack in the lower left corner of the windshield. Tires are almost new. Power windows work fine. Sunroof works, too. Radio has been replaced.

Nice car, but a lot of money, sounds like a "barn find". Ad says 87K on the odo.
