Title only becomes an issue when you want to sell it .

Even in California where I now live, one can register a vehicle sans title, I did it on my 1969 Jeepester when it came from Up State New York to here .

Any car from anywhere in New York or surrounding area is going to have rust issues, I remember three year old cars rotted beyond drivability, never mind the annual safety inspection, many sorta skipped it or cheated .

It may well be a good deal and well worth fixing up, God knows I used to save old junkers when this was a new car, some were amazingly good shape in spite of only costing $50 or so .

I agree. The guy is dreaming if he thinks new bearing shells will fix the knocking. I think it is time for a new engine. Even so, that is still a great price.

Would you buy for $800, I was too scared to decided not to get it.

Needs brand new fluids, fuel, tires, windshield, body seals, injector/exterior are rough, turn signal light plus more.

A money pit? Or saving grace?

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

Might have bio-crap wiring that is causing the no start.

The wiring was in excellent shape, pliable and soft. The owner even said he got a replacement harness.

Being the gasoline is 5 years old it had to be the reason for the no start, starting fluid allowed it to putter to life, so it's a fuel issue?

The SD I sold last year - https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/1983-mercedes-benz-300sd/6625305898.html

Well maintained by forum member PO. Excellent highway cruiser. R-12 AC works but has expansion valve leak. Antenna sometimes drains battery if you don’t drive it for a few days so I left it disconnected.

I just got the registration renewal notice so it’s probably being sold with my title.
