SDL Urgent Brake Help Needed

Hello All,
I decided to change out my rear pads and disks on my 87 300SDL this afternoon and have ran into a problem. The passenger side disk (driver side already done) will not come loose. The parking break appears to be locked in place; we've tried releasing it and reapplying and releasing again, we've tried beating it out, we've tried heat. The parking break seems to be holding it in place. Anybody have any ideas on how to proceed???

Thanks,
Matt

Have you tried taking the mechanical linkage off and tapping on it to see if it'll release?

Seems odd why it'd bind like that...

We'll i've put it back together for the night (or a couple; it's supposed to start raining soon). I tried to remove the cable that hooks the emergency brake up (it is a cable with a bracket and a screw that holds it on) but once I take the screw out the cable wont budge. I also tried lifting the driver side and the axle will turn when the parking brake is released (so I guess that the brake isnt on very much {if at all???}).

So pretty much I have no idea but the car is back together untill the rain ends then I will try to tackle it again. The only good news is that the brakes dont squeele like crazy any more.

Is the rotor off the hub and only the park brake pads holding it or is the rotor not off the hub at all?

Did you back off the star wheel? Set a lug hole on the 45-degree line pointing forward and up then back off the star wheel all the way.

I don't recall touching the rear brakes. At most I changed the main pads.

Easiest thing is to pull a rear rotor of a 123 or 126 so you can see the star wheel. There's a good picture in the Haynes W123 manual. You can also check mb.braingears.com . Maybe this shortcut will work - http://mb.braingears.com/126_DISC1/program/Chassis/42-0540.pdf
