300SDL sterring whelel vibrates over 70mph
The title says it all. The tires a re Michelin and have been balanced and rotated. Can it be the steering damper? Any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i would suspect the balancing job.
in recent years i have had a lot of trouble getting a decent balance job. sometimes i have had to take them back several times. i finally gave up on the local tire rack even though i liked the folks there and they had good prices because they either had poor machinery or poor techs. had better but not much at sears. took it to the mb dealer once and was satisfied with their balance job. the dealer uses the best spring held wieghts. tom w

It's not uncommon to hit a bump and throw a weight - Look at your rims for a spot that once held a balancing weight.
