1971 Mercedes Van - "VW Bus On Steroid"?
This is an interesting van. It must be a bit of a job to convert it from gas to diesel. I do not know much about the diesel engine they put in, but the diesel 2.2 4-cylinder, giving a top speed of 60 mph, does not appear to make it a "VW bus on steroid". Anybody knows how many horsepower this engine gives? I know the old VW bus is slow. I have not driven one, but passed many on hilly roads. For the asking price of $10K+, I will rather get nice diesel car
 . I do see many Mercedes and VW vans still running in Mexico and South America.

i think the strategy was to have so many distractions of dirty underwear and such that you wouldnt notice the needs of the van.
