My 81 300SD is skiping 3rd and softly going from 2nd into 4th. But if I have the
pettel to the floor it will shift into 3rd but shift hard or " jerk" into 4th. Anyone
here of this. I changed my fluid and filter, but no change. I also have the bango
cable set right. Anyone have any idea what to do next...

I know enough to ask if you have the tranny number off the side flange just above the pan. This number will tell the real experts for sure which you have... a 722.1/2 or a 722.3/4. If it is the latter you are lucky for there is a fix that I think might be for you. But I'm too new to be the one to get your hopes up.
Seriously, the number might be useful to those here that know much more than I... after all I just spent over $2K for rebuild 722.118 tranny!!
