HELP! 83 300D will not start! HELP!

Of late ive done a alot of work on the beast.
~3 weeks ago, i dropped the tranny to replace the front tranny pump.
got it back in and took on road trip this past weekend. did well. no leaks
one issue was shifting points. it got to 4th @~20 mph. last night i addressed this issue by checking the Bowden Cable. Apparently the lever arm on top of valve cover was not installed properly to allow for cable to engage. i corrected this and took out on road to adjust. adjusted so 4th kicked in ~35.
got up this am to take kids to school. turned key. allowed GP light to go out. turned key further. nothing. checked shifter. in park. tried again. still nothing. tried jumping. still nothing. V on battery ~13.8V.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE what can i try next? is this related to anything i might of done while dealing w/ tranny or Bowden cable? does not turn over. do not hear the starter attempt to engauge.
do hear something happen behind ACC.

thanks for any and all help...

You probably have a problem with the neutral safety switch on the trans. Maybe it came un plugged.
To start the car you can jump the wires on the right inner fender. Just jump one of the big screws to the small screw and the starter will operate.

Neutral safety switch.

I went through this a few weeks back. Try doing a search for "neutral safety switch".

Does the solenoid click?

how old is the starter?

do you have a good ground between the engine and the chassis?

Are your cables clean and tight?

hub,

Connect a voltmeter or test light to the small screw terminal on the solonoid. When the key is turned to start position, U should read ~12 volts or the light should light.

No volts or light, key switch, nuetral switch, wires or a connection is bad.

Light or voltage at the small solonoid terminal: bad solonoid or starter or connection in the high current cables to the battery or ground.
