I have replaced the flexible brake lines on all but one of my cars (and that one will get it this summer). They all look the same, crimped the same, made out of the same material. In fact, some of them are made by the same supplier (ATE).

EDIT- Mine was a catastrophic failure, not weeping, BTW.

mine are a blitch to work... you have to pull slowly, and "just right" to get them to work, or else they catch, and you cant pull them any further...

are they broken?

walgamuth rubber brake lines should be changed every 10-15 years. If you don't think so research it a bit and you will.

be my guest.

i was just reporting my experiences over 41 years of driving and maintaining cars.

your experiences may be different.

i just dont very often change parts that are working fine just because someone else says it should be done.

lets see, honda brake hoses...black, rubber, crimped metal ends. yep, must be exactly like a benz in quality too.

i think my experience and yours well illustrates the point that the benz hoses are better.

i have often had 20 plus year old benzes with original radiator hoses too. and not cracked or leaking. seen any hondas like that? i could go on an on about the individual parts that are unusually high quality. starters for example. not unusual for a 250k mile car to have the original.
