Is the 240D supposed to have engine mount shock absorbers? I cant see any on mine. It's an 81.

No ( edit I was wrong, see my post below for the picture of the shock)

Below the oil pan attached to the frame below the engine is an "engine stop" which is only on the 240D. Look it up in the online Service manual for adjustment

Online service manual

Thanks Dave. Where do I find the online service manual? Is it part of this forum?

My sister's car does not have any engine shocks. It is also a w123 240D manual transmission. It just has the two soft rubber engine mounts and the tiny t-shaped mount at the rear of the oil pan.

I remember reading in a shop manual that the manual transmission 240D's did not have the shocks, but I can't find that at the moment.

I've thought about adding them, but haven't done much research to figure out if they can/ should be added.

Your 240D does in fact have an engine shock. Its in addition to the front engine stop. Its on the driver side mount arm. YOu cant see it at all from the top. Only the top nut is visible on the arm.

I stand corrected and can't figure out why I posted that it did not have the shock. Major mind fart.( at least my daughters 83 240D does)
