Well, progress has gone well on the '80 240/300D project, I am figuring it should be back on the road by the end of next week if all continues well, after it's 4 year vacation in the P.O.'s back yard....I looked up some of the searches as was suggested & found several links/tips on getting that IP set, never touched one before, and had it set in about 15 minutes via the drip method, this site is indeed a great thing. If anyone wonders why I call it the 240/300 project, it's because it began life as a 240D, tossed a rod and got parked, till I came along with gumption and a 300D engine.....really easy swap, I'm impressed with how they set these up for things to interchange so well. I really am astounded at how well the interior still is after all these years and having sat out like that. This is the second Mercedes I've taken posession of, but the first I've done anything with, My vintage '64 190D has been sitting here 2 yrs waiting on the guy to show up with papers (as he had promised) within a week...I finally lien saled it for storage and got it proper, so NOW I can finally get it going. (Needs total resto, but excellent body & complete) I just saw a beautiful 71 290(I think) in the wrecking yard today, no idea why it ended up there, this car was clean in and out, (except for the now smashed left door trim thanks to the forklift) wish I coulda got wind of it before it found its way in there.....I keep it up and DMV's gonna make me get a dealer's license...lol...too many toys.
