Yea for Chrysler for having the guts to bring a diesel to the market. I wish that gladiator with a diesel would come forth.

Diesel Transplants

I'd like to see a Caravan with a diesel -- perhaps just the Sprinter engine if that is less expensive than the one going in the Jeep. In fact, I'd buy one.

There are tons of Caravans sold -- if the diesel option got popular it might even help the CAFE averages for Chrysler ...

Hopefully the detroit macho diesel image will be overridden by the foreign influence and the priority will be economy and performance instead of marketing.

its about time....

Strange thing with the Jeep line, they always seem to have problems coming out with things that make sense...that is until recently with the Rubicon, the Liberty CDI, and the coming four door Wrangler....only 20 years late but welcomed none the less.

One area they always seemed to miss on is the Wrangler's engine, this should have been the very first Jeep diesel vehicle, it appeals to the offroad type that usually prefer the torque of a low revving diesel, and the mileage on a Wrangler sucks! You can see the fuel gauge drop almost as quickly as the rpm's rise.

So where's the diesel for the Wrangler???? We've been exporting these variants for over 30 years to the rest of the world but never here

Having been a Jeep Wrangler & CJ guy for 15+ years, I'm still thinking to drop a 617 into a CJ-7

Unfortunately, just as I left the apprtment, I heard that Jeep is canceling the Jeep liberty diesel due to emissions.

Not that there is many US diesels to start with several manufacturers are scrambling to introduce new engines to meet the Kalifonstani emmisions and many are dropping the line in 2007-08 until things are normalized. Hopefully DC will introduce more diesels, I heard a new V8 SD is due to come out with 345hp/490 lb/ft Want me one of them
