Toting 4 kids in a 240D -- need seat belt?
My daughter wants me to pick up some friends of hers, next week, after school. Hmmm, other than the driver, I only have 3 belts in my 240. Any way to add a lap belt in the rear seat middle? Anyone ever done such a wacky thing?
thanks, Chuck |

My 123 had a middle lap belt.
Have you removed yours? If not you may want to look under the rear seat bottom.

Four kids in one car?!?!?! You need leg irons, muzzels, and straight jackets not seat belts.

You might need to pull the back seat and look under it. There should be 3 sets in the back.

Even my coupe has a middle seat belt.

That would be the easy solution for sure. Thanks very much everyone!
Yes, I'll see if I can pick up straightjackets, but it may be needed for the driver. |

There is no seat belt for a fifth person in a 240D. With five people in it, the car would'nt move anymore or probably roll backwards if you were trying to go uphill. Just kidding. If you or the previous owner hasn't removed it, you should find it underneath the rear seat. If not, go to the nearest junkyard and get one. It's an easy fix.

Have the outboard belts attach to the opposite latch. The middle kid will have a very secure 4-point restraint

Borrow a 300TD and use the roof rack.

Yes, there is
3 belts in the rear seat of a 240D. I just finished swapping interiors between my parts car and my driver. Both had a middle belt. As a matter of fact, the sets are tied together - remove the rear seat bottom and you will see what I mean. I had the carseat for my Grandkid belted in the middle position yesterday. Welcome to my life, 5 kids and now a grandkid At least the 3rd kid is leaving the nest at the end of summer - only 2 to go
BTW - I converted from power to manual crank windows during the swap - I'm so proud
