interesting eBay find

Got this MB spare tire jerrycan from a guy in Leipzig, fits inside 14" wheels. Now I can actually keep some diesel in the trunk, to protect against stranding myself when I push my luck on the highway. I love finding little MB goodies like this.

That is a very unique find. Nice job! I saw one on ebay a year or so ago, and they got a good little price for it.

Does the spare tire fit over it? I would rather have a spare tire on a trip then a fuel can.

No, it fits inside the spare alloy wheel, so I can have both
holds 7 liters of fuel
just enough to get me to a fueling station(I hope)
but the real reason I bought it is for the novelty

There's one of those in my Euro. It's in the trunk, right under the warning triangle.

I got the triangle too. I'm also working on an MB 'essentials' toolkit, with QUALITY tools, which is just a USAF mechanic's bag with a vintage MB patch sewn on the side, including the Hazet valve wrenches, 27mm socket, tools of that ilk. I'd love to find a set of Euro bumpers and a factory tow hitch. I'd also love to run across a set of 15" Bundt Baroques. The only Euro equipment I don't really have the burning desire to score are the Euro adjustable vacuum headlights. I actually like the US headlights better, just hate their illumination output. What other goodies exist? External mounted fogs? Winch? Whiskey flask? 20mm minigun?

If you really want to be ready for Katrina-Road-Warrier days, you'll need a 100-gallon fuel tank on a towed trailer to pull behind you.

But to be serious, that is a cool little can. For the sake of petrol pukers, I hope it is well sealed.

Is there is a Mercedes Part Number on the thing? I can see the Logo.

minigun

...definitely essential in DC. I'd LOVE to have one in my essentials kit (no problem w/ deer, cattle, coyotes with that).

Yeah, I saw one a year ago or so on ebay. Almost bought it myself but figured I'd rather spend $ on something the car really needed! NOS, right?

Neat goodie though.

Cheers,

Bill
