I think that was for the other car!

That's sure an impressive performance leap ahead of the other Finnish SuperTurbos. Do you have any info on what engine/transmission/rear end he's running in that car?

That thing is positively glacial out of the hole!

Don't think he is getting a "hold" on the ground. The high miles per hour reading is one indication (in relation to the e.t.). And watch the cloud of tire smoke (?) about the right rear following him off the line. Could this be a one-legged rear end (non-posi ? ). Notice how it really starts to move about 1/4th track....could that be finally getting traction or just running out of turbo lag. But turbos love to be power-braked, and usually can get up a good head of steam off the line when done so. Don't think it was turbo lag, as the black cloud on the starting line before the light would indicate he power-braked it.

It's a Holset turbo 200D. You gotta wait for that big boy to spool up.

There's no boost at start, just black smoke. Look at the 60-feet time, Mercedes really starts to move after that... Acceleration 0-100mph 8,1 seconds!
60' 2.273 330' 5.624 660' 8.107/100mph 1000' 10.210 1/4 mile 11.996/125mph Car weight including driver 3600 lbs |

Without a doubt, the post 60ft acceleration rate is impressive. After years watching pro-stock and funnies launch like air-to-air missiles, that Benz just looked strangely slow.

turbo lag is different compared to stock turbodiesel, off boost response is excellent, but on boost response is like sitting inside the rocket. first BIG Holset starts to whine at 7psi, at 12psi boost climbs rapidly to 20+psi, then engine screams past 6000 rpm and diesel pulls really HARD! it's probably easy to judge car like that, if never drove one. Here's another VIDEO to get some idea. Last edited by nokileka; 06-13-2006 at 05:05 PM. |

What head is on that car? The 12-valve or the 24-valve? In other words, is the engine a 603, or a 606? Sounds like a 606.

Well if it has more power offboost then the 2.5turbo then it's quite drivable . But how can u get that much power off boost with a 601? I know it has the IP modified, but can the fuel be burned without air?
Also it would be lovely to share the mods with us . A "modest" 190D with a 601@220hp and A/C running WVO is quite a dream car .
