Hood strap inside
OK- not a gearhead, really proud to replace fuel filters, put new grill chrome on- problem is, FORGOT TO PULL STRAP THROUGH BEFORE I CLOSED THE HOOD! I tried using a hanger to pull the release, but the hood strap pushing against the inside of the grill keeps it from releasing all the way. Do I have to cut the strap with a keyhole saw and just replace it, or does someone have a better idea? Thx

Hood strap inside
Actually got it out with a needle nose but when I tried to put it back in the right grill slot it broke in half- so it's another online order! Thx

When my strap broke, I made a reinforcement out of a strip of aluminum and attached it with two small sheet metal screws (one screw in each half of the broken part.) It's been working fine ever since, and that was about 12 years ago. It's way stonger now than before it broke.

I've been through about three of them (so far). I usually glue the old one together and keep it as a spare for the next time I yank too hard. Fortunately they're cheap.

Look for an aftermarket metal one instead of plastic, www.**************.com , i think.
