dummy...

Well, to get back on subject, diesels in the drive thru can be deadly..., well for a weak battery.
On thursday, I went to a local drive thru, and turned the engine off so I could hear. When I went to turn it back on... nothing, it just slowly turned, didn't turn over. So, they sent someone out to push the old diesel into a parking space. I called AAA, they came and gave me a boost (I was a little worried since it's sometimes hard to boost a diesel), it cranked slowly at first, then turned over quickly. I then got the food home remembering not to shut the engine off when I got to the house, and got over to Sears to get a new battery.

Maybe that's some way of telling me to lay off the drive-thrus for a while.

Sorta on the subject, I just replaced my old hood pad (it was torn from a broken fan belt, oil stained from my little vacuum pump mishap, and just worn out). The new hood pad does reduce the noise quite a bit, you can (almost) forget it's a diesel.

The Mexican response

Driving the '82 240D in Monterrey, Mexico this morning with my wife and 2 kids. Pulled up to a light next to a taxi and we both had all our windows down. Cab driver leans out his window and says to me "mas aceite" I say "mande?" he yells "MAS ACEITE, GRINGO!"

(Translation...."more oil"...."what?"......."MORE OIL, GRINGO!")

I yell "esta un DIESEL, AMIGO!" (it's a DIESEL, FRIEND). He smiles, waves, and we drive off......

Nice of the guy to be listening to my engine and trying to help out. Funny!

I also was at the "dollar store" last night and saw Diesel Rated, straight 50W "aceite" for sale.

I'd respond to "MAS ACEITE, GRINGO!" a little bit different than you did! Denver's mexican population isn't as "nice" as that guy.

Something about eating fast food crap and driving a Mercedes doesn't seem to go together.

I guess that's why so many have crushed spring in them...?

I don't understand, what does one driving a MB have to do with them eating fast food?

Whats wrong with the "mexicans" (who knows if they really mexican or another race) in denver? Out here all of us mexicans are cool. My friends think i talk like a white guy rather then a bean because i dont have a accent

I would think us mexicans wouldnt know much about diesels since we dont have diesels in mexico. But i know guatemalan's sure do! they have so many diesels youd think your in europe.....up until you get a black cloud of smoke come out of a toyota D4D corolla, then you know your in guatemala for their high sulfur diesel

It's a generalization. Just like they are called Cuban, Puerto Rican, or Honduran in some places no matter where they are really from.

just that IMO I see MB's as high quality cars, and mcdonalds as low quality garbage . I think the food I buy my dogs has more nutritional value than that crap. If you are eating there, you are probably taking better care of your car , than you are of your body!!! YOu wouldn't pour 25,000 mile used motor oil from a dumpster into your M-B tank would you?????

Same basic thing.

No, running a 15 ft batwing mower from 6:30-12:00 then 7:00-10:30 will burn you out quick. the only reason I get a break midday is because the New Holland Tractor I run overheats when Its above 90 out. And I only get 12/hr!

Thank God for the Earmuff's with the built in radio, I've listened to an entire Nascar race while mowing just one field!

There are so many examples of why this ******* is my forum kryptonite! H-Town, you are a sharp teenager. You "get it", unlike some of your clueless brethren. I'm very appreciative suddenly at how my teenagers have turned out.
Sorry for the discourteous nature of this post. My wife is the merciful one in our family.....

There seems to be a generalization that all drive-thrus serve unhealthy food. Well, here in Texas, not all drive-thrus are for McDonalds. We have a chain of cafeterias here called Luby's (you probably haven't heard of them, they're a primarily Texas institution), and some of them have drive-thrus. You can order something healthier there than you can at McDonalds.

Anyway, when it comes to a burger, I prefer a Whataburger (another Texas institution) or one from Prince's (a strictly Houston affair) over McDonalds.

I can honestly say I have never taken my SDL through a drive through. I hate fast food. I'd rather eat chunks of lead because it feels the same sitting in my stomich.
