The vehicle isn't worth more than $1500. IMHO. You're looking at $3K in parts to get it somewhere near "normal". Then you need to deal with the rust.
Find a better example. Pay more up front. You'll be far better off in the long run.

Yeah, I paid $1500 for my 85 300D at auction. I replaced right side tie rods, new tires, buffed the paint to shiny new, it has no radio/speakers, otherwise just about perfect at 200K. Rear pass. power lock doesn't work, rear driver window sometimes works. No rust, straight as an arrow. Yep, I'm in Florida.
