Drug seizure cars (Mercedes) up for bid in NC

If anyone is interested, there are three Mercedes that you might be able to get pretty cheaply. They are drug seizure cars here in North Carolina and are up for auction.

Here is the link: http://www.ncstatesurplus.com/ssp/public/ssphomepage/ssp.htm

Hope this is of interest to someone on the forum.

Didn't see anything good. Mostly middle aged beat up American cars.

There are 2 late 80's w124's- a 260E and 300E in worn shape. One of the two is sitting on a set of huge tasteless chrome rims.

There is also a late model 190E with some body damage.

never

never buy a drug seizure vehicle...

when we seize those things we go through them pretty good but there have been people buy them and get pulled over at the border because the dog hit on them and what do you know they find another 3 pounds of cocaine. And then you have to explain how it got in your car....

This has actually happend and there are a few people in mexican jails and they have not been able to convince the mexican authorties that they had bought an american drug seizure vehicle...

I think if you were to buy from an area with wealthy drug dealers you might do pretty good. The gov auctions in southern FL I bet have interesting stuff.

In school

The DEA donated an old DC9 to an aircraft maintenance school I attended one day two students pulled 20 large clear plastic bags of coke out of a wing fuel tank boy there were embarrassed government officials. Doesn’t it figure the rat bastards took the plane back we should have sold the crap and bought a plane that actually flew. Therefore, I too would avoid drug-seized cars unless you want to practice rebuilding Mercedes in your head for the next 20 years.

just picture this

just picture this, a career union federal employee, finds 2 pounds under the front seat, 2 pounds under the front passenger seat, wow we got the bad guy.

well what about the 20 pounds inside each tire, or in the rear seat....tearing the inside of a car out is work.... real work...

the bad guy is not going to say, (wait a minute what about the 20 pounds in the gas tank)

I am not being critical since I am one of these guys....

Forget the drug seizure's what about the tax seizure's? I know pretty high dollar boats get auctioned off.

Screw the drug dealers stuff, if they are driving a Chevy they are a crummy dealer. You want to go to the auction when the liquidate the estate of a king pin. Then pick up a Diablo for $.40 on the dollar.

in 1988 My mom bought a 300E. A year later it was stolen. Some wacky new neighbors had moved into the rental house across the street from ours. Shady to say the least. The day after it had been stolen I was up at 6am getting ready for school, eating a bowl of cereal while looking out to the street through the kitchen window. THERE it was... our CAR!!!!! parked in the new neighbors driveway. I screamed upstairs, my dad came running down, called the police, whom arrived a few minutes later and arrrested the new neighbor and his wife.
They managed to tear the car to shreds in one night. The upholstery was thrashed- torn to shreds. Junk all over the car, spilled drinks, the tape player was jammed with a tape that had been thrusted into it. The trunk wouldnt open, and the front left headlight and blinker had been broken. Not to mention the entire car looked as though it had been used to run the baja 2000 off road rally... covered in a thick film of desert dust. Needless to say, there was some serious joy riding going on throughout that night.

The car was replaced by the insurance company with a new one. The "old" car was sent off to an auction. After seeing the car torn to shreds, damaged, and clearly driven HARD, and then sent off to be sold at auction, I figured it would be a good idea to steer clear from seized vehicles. Theres no telling WHAT has happened to them. But im sure there are deals to be found, esp. when high income drug dealers cars are put on the block.

I live in downtown, and there is a club a block away that caters to seedy gangster kids whom like to roll as though they were millionaires... many of whom drive newer more expensive import cars. Lots of drunk driving, baggy clothes, scantily clad girls, and highline cars. One unfortunate kid was stopped in front of my house for drunk driving. I watched them test him in every way possible, arrest him, and search his car. 3 bags of a "powdery" substance, a scale, and some paraphenalia. The car was left parked (halfway on the sidewalk as the drunk kid parked it as he was pulled over) until the following day when it was towed... if that car ended up at an auction, im sure it was a hot item on the list. it was a nice and shiny newer black Alpina M5. It at least had an Alpina badge and kit. Some curb damage of course.

I remember a story of someone who bought a 930 seizure and found that it didn't run because there were bullet holes in the engine. Buyer beware.

How much for just the tasteless rims?

boyfriend of a friend of mine bought a car at a police auction years ago. after a while the window jammed and he opened the thing up and found like a half million dollars hid in it. it became a whole ordeal with the law etc, since the criminal at that time also had mentioned the whereabouts of that dough. but in the end he bought the car 'as is' so could keep the money. hopefully the former criminal owner's contacts with the police auction officers aren't too good
