Does anyone know the procedure to check hydraulic valve lifters. I'm trying to figure out which one(s) is ticking. I've tried different oils and I'm still having noise. THanks in advance. |

You need to remove the valve cover and measure the clearance between the lobe and the element. MB has a max spec for this, don't remember what it is. If the clearance exceeds the spec replacing the element is recommended.

We normally change them all once one starts to tick...There is a chance that you exchange the wrong one or that one of the other hydraulic lifters will start ticking once you (think you) are finished...
The price of a hydraulic lifter is reasonable enough to exchange them all at the same time... greetingz,
