Basic Diesel emergency kit....?
I like a large piece of cardboard folded once and under the other stuff. If you have to get underneath the car in small gravel, it is a lot more comfortable and helps preserve your clothes.
And although I never use them at home, one of those disposable plastic coveralls rolls up small and doubles for an extra layer of clothes should you break down in really cold weather. Alberta Luthier |
Can of starting fluid.
Enough tools to fix almost anything. I carry enough tools in two 30 cal ammo boves. P E H |
Maybe make this thread a "Sticky"
I would add, to the above,
a funnel, bottle of Power steering and Transmission fluid, couple of pairs of disposable plastic gloves, plastic ice scraper for winter, an old towel, a few road flares, (always ask a Highway Patrolman for a couple if yoiu ever get pulled over! He has LOTS of them in his cruiser), and the Warndreiech (Mercedes Benz detachable reflective warning triangle REQUIRED in Germany but not in USA) and a good Tire pressure gauge, a fire extinguisher, small bottle of water and a few kleenex, for emergency removal of bird droppings- they can ruin paint REAL quick and , a AAA emergency road service card with the LONG DISTANCE (up to 100 miles) towing option. You've got a prefilter and a spin on filter wihtin a couple of inches of each other. You also must have a new O ring for the prefilter.
