prechamber removal

I've been fortunate enough to never have to deal with changing injectors or prechambers with any of the mercedes I've dealt with. In other words, I don't know crap about them. I've searched around but I could't find any directions for removing the prechamber. I understand that you need some special tools, but does anyone have a link to step by step directions?

Use the advanced search and use ' prechamber' on the left and my screen name as poster... it will give you 10 threads....
Have you found the online manual yet and read it ?

Why do you want to pull them? Unless the ball is missing or they are full of carbon...

To examine the cylinder bore condition ?
To check them for cracks or burned spots ?
To see if the radial holes are clean ? That is something you can't do without pulling them...and those holes and the pintle ball are essential for good fuel dispersion and power/mileage.

I have a cylinder that's missing when the car is idleing and iIe eliminated all of the possibilities except the prechamber. From what I've read, it seems like I have a cracked prechamber or one missing the ball.

The ball check is easy. Look in the hole with the injector out. If the little ball is there, then odds are good that the PC is ok. I found 2 PC's in my 240D were missing the ball. When I pulled them and found them severly broken with huge chunks missing I was sure it was the cause of my rough idle. Installed new PC's, new heat shields on the injectors and fired it up! Guess what. Ran pretty much like it did before I did the work. Even with the busted PC's it ran good with great power for a 240D. So, my advice to you is to replace them if you see the ball missing or you have pieces banging around in there. Otherwise, keep looking for the real cause of your miss.

ps...... there are a lot of threads around that say without the PC ball your going to cut a hole in the top of your piston with the stream burning diesel fuel. After pulling the PC on my car I have decided that people who say that have never seen a PC in person. There is no way fuel is going to make it thru the tiny holes on the PC bottom to the piston crown. Im not saying a missing ball is ok, just dont believe you have cut your motor apart by running it without those balls.

When you state you have checked everything can you list what you have done?

I am just curious as to what proceedures you have used to reduce it to the pre chambers. I would have to assume a compression check was done on both those engines. How did you eliminate possible pump problems? Like very low fuel flow for example. Things like defective delivery valve seal for example. Are you getting any burn at all in those missing cylinders?
