For diesels, more fuel means more power. Therefore, do the fuel injectors in the more powerful 300D turbodiesel flow more fuel than the the injectors in the normally aspirated diesels? If so, I was wondering if a little more performance could be sqeezed out of a 240D if the injectors were swapped with those of a turbodiesel. Also, is the 240D fuel injection pump capable of providing the displacement and pressure to the turbodiesel injectors? I know I should ask this in the Performance section, but it seams they are more interested in cosmetic upgrades (hood upgrades, clear blinkers, and rims) rather than actual performance.

I am not a engineer or tuner, but a mechanic, and here is my best shot
Giving it more fuel will not neccessarily give you more power, just more smoke. You need to get the engine more air aswell. The 240 engine might not have any more power to give without a better injection pump, bigger valves, more air flow, bigger injectors.
There is a point where a diesel cannot burn fuel faster, and it would take alot of experimenting to find out if the engine is capable of more power (short of a turbo or blower).
On VW 1.6 diesel's you can adjust the "mixture", ie give the engine more fuel at full throttle, but this just results in more smoke, not more acceleration, unless you do something to make the engine breathe better.
So in theory, the 300D injectors might give a cleaner burn (higher pressure resulting in better combustion), but I don't think you will see any improvement in power without other mods.
Some one please correct me...

Clacker, thanks for the response. I was just curious to know if such a mod might provide a little improvement in acceleration. I was reading on the VW tdi side of the internet how they were swapping "bigger" injectors from the european versions into the US tdi's for more power. Of course, those engines have turbos and intercoolers. I guess I'll stick with my trusty (and tunable) turbodiesel and settle on the fact that the 616 engine is already maxed out. Thanks again.

I belong to the tid site as well
The thing with TDI's is the higher pump pressures, they are putting out between 1000-1400 psi, and a larger injector can increase the flow of fuel. The Mercedes is running around 400? psi I cannot remember, but the injector testors do not have very high pressures for the Mercedes (opening pressures), meaning a larger injector will not have as big an efect.
