Electric Accessory Hookup To Switched Circuit E300D W210
Hey all,
I have a 98 E 300D and need to hook my installed phone charger to a power source that is controlled by the switch. I have the bluetooth unit and sirius unit coming off of the cigarette lighter circuit. The installed phone holder/charger doesn't work well attached to the same circuit because of the other accessories installed on it. The unit just doesn't have enough power to do more than a trickle charge. How do I hook it into the fusebox underneath the back seat? Is there another source controlled by the key that would work? The power line does have an in-line fuse, so it is protected. Any ideas? I'm leaving Sunday for a 700 mile drive and would like to get this hooked up asap. Thanks! Richard |

Your cigarette lighter circuit SHOULD be capable of 5 amps no problem. It won't have anything to do with the charging rate of your phone. If you can measure 12 to 13 volts at the lighter socket with your phone current load attached, you are ok.
