Injector pump, leaking at throttle arm shaft
hi again, my OM 617 912 has a diesel leak from the throttle lever shaft. The throttle lever is on the inside of the pump next to the injectore/glow plugs and the shaft passes through the pump to the other side where it seems to be fastened by a circlip. The diesel is dripping from here, the circlip side. How do I remedy this with the pump in-situ, parts? Also would this cause an air lock later when trying to prime the whole system as this is what happened the last time the engine stood for a while, so had to crank without glow plugs in untill the fuel came through... and it really does come through!!
Cheers. |

Contact me when you find an answer, my '91 300d just started leaking from somewhere, the upper part of the engine is about all I can see.
Thanks, Jeff |

Leaks can come from a number of places. Cleaning the engine and looking for the source using a uv dye is the easiest and fastest way to find a leak.

UV dye with a fuel leak is interesting. Never heard of that before. As the fuel runs all over or sprays even, how exactly does that tell you where it started? In any case, for the throttle shaft I think that a leak there means the at a minimum the pump has to come out. I cant see any way to fix that bushing without taking it apart and for most people, myself included, taking apart the IP to that degree is out of my scope.
