A/C blower-DC current specs ('83 300sd).
Does anyone know the typical dc current specs for the a/c blower motor?
Also, what kind of lubricant (if any) for the motor bearings. I can't seem to find anything specific here or anywhere else. Regards, r_littrell. |
cant help you with the current specs. for the lube just use a light oil like 3in1 or sumthin like that

The a/c blower draws a couple of amps at 12 Volts.

The A/C blower motor actually takes a fair current draw, even more so as it ages. Mercedes has a retrofit kit for a 30 amp fuse that comes with a small housing that mounts outside the main fuse box. There was a TSB from MB on this issue for the w123 and w126. The previous fuse rating ,when new, is 16 or 25 (depending on info source) amp.

Good point. The fuse panel on my late 1985 300D Turbo (CA version) calls for a 25 Amp fuse so they must have made the change very late in the model run. I'll measure the actual current draw of the new (installed over the holiday) Bosch motor in my ACC blower and post the results here.

not sure exactly what draw it is, but
My 82 blower constantly melts the fuse and it's 25 amp spec according to the sheet. Blue plastic melts long before the metal fuse strip though, so I bet it is something like 22 amps. I am glad to hear about the MB retrofit, but I purchased a fuse holder, and I will be rewiring the panel for the blower, and installing a circuit breaker. rated at 25 amps, should protect the blower, and not burn out.
