Blowing fuses like um something that blows fuses a lot...
Ok, I am the proud new owner of a shiny (just washed clay barred and waxed) my 1975 240D. My fuse keeps blowing for my horn, wipers, and blower motor. The horn works when it works, the wipers work on all speeds except for 3, and I think the bower motor runs all the time. Anything I should look for? Also, I had no dash lights, I WANT THEM I replaced a bulb that looked burned out, along with the other ones, as I figured they were close to going out to since they appeared to be original. After this, my fuse blew out for this circuit as well, it also controls the dome lights. What purpose does the little knob on the left side right across from the tripometer reset knob do? Is it a dimmer? Final question, any other diesel benz owners around Rockford, Mi?

For the fuse problems, you need to isolate each circuit by unplugging the things that are most likely to draw a lot of current and blow fuses. For example, the blower motor draws a lot of current, so unplug it. Does the fuse still blow? If so, unplug something else. Once you think you have something, plug it back in and see if the fuse then blows. Then you know what to fix. If you unplug everything and the fuse still blows, then you have a short in the wiring from the fuse panel. A wiring diagram for your specific year and model can be extremely helpful.
The little knob next to the tripmeter reset should be a dimmer knob for the dash lights. They sometimes fail; there is a thread here somewhere on fixing them. As for your dash lights, make sure you have replaced the bulbs with the correct ones, not necessarily the ones that you found in the dash. In 25 years, POs have had a lot of opportunities to put in "substitute" bulbs. Some of these draw more current than the stock bulbs or are otherwise unsuitable. Jeremy

I replaced the fuses with ones that looked like the originals, they still had duetsch speak on them I replaced them with standard 194s. Is there a clip on the blower motor, or is the connector just stuck on there?
