87 300td
I am looking at an 87 300TD. For those of you who think TD just means turbo diesel... that is correct but it is a WAGON! 124 chassis 300TD, very rare car to have a 124 wagon equipped with das OM603. Ich lieben das 124er!
It is owned by a Mercedes Tech up at crown mercedes. He got it cheap, put lots of work into (not sure exactly what all was done or needed done). White on black, 125K, everything works on it, even the AC. He rebuilt the driver's seat and had it detailed inside and out by the top crown detailer. He's asking 5K for it, which seems a bit high, but then again not really for what it is. I've seen 300TEs with 200K on the clock for 8 grand on ebay... What you all think? Amidst all this, I am going to have to sell my 201 and my 2001 Jeep XJ Cherokee. The XJ guzzles too much gas and the 201 is just rusting too much for me to want to fix her up. She still runs great, just needs stupid **** like a belt tensioner, leaking return and IP/fuel pump fuel lines due to biodiesel mixture now in ALL diesel fuel (I need to upgrade to the synthetic fuel lines I know), window regulator, sunroof needs adjusted: the back right corner doesnt come all the way up, and the AC needs the leak fixed and pressure switches and reciever/drier replaced. I am a certified AND employed HVACR (emphasis on the R) technician, I just don't feel it is worth messing with on this old car. I'll try listing the cars online.

I'd say $5k is a kill deal, given what these things are going for on Ebay right now. I paid $6k four years ago, and it had a list of dead or inoperative functions that would fill up an entire paragraph. Go for it.

It's A Deal
If it has no rust, that's a great deal. $5K for a 125K 1987 300TD is a steal especially for one that has everything working. You can flip it on Ebay for $8K or more, looking at what these cars go for recently on Ebay.

Sounds like a killer deal. w123 wagons have sold for twice that with similar mileage. It sounds really nice and clean, so I'd say go for it. Does it by chance have the 3rd seat?

Heck flip it on ebay for a profit if you don't want it yourself. In today's market $5k is a great deal.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Now I just need to unload my jeep and 201. But to top this wagon, my other buddy who works at Crown mercedes is going to sell is '96 W210 E320 that has 105k on it for 6 grand. It too needs nothing, and was maintained by an anal mercedes freak. But I would rather have a 603 powered W124 wagon than a 104 powered 210. I need the wagon's cargo space and fuel economy.
Not sure on the 3rd seat, I hope it does!

Buy both! You need something to replace that Jeep. You can never have to many Mercedes!
