Leaky injection pump

My 87 300 D Turbo has a slight motor oil leak that is originating at the back of a plate that is on the bottom side of the fuel injection pump. I cannot find any refrence to a gasket or o-ring to replace. Got any Ideas

This is a common point of leakage for pumps of that vintage, and is nearly impossible to access in situ. It really should be pulled to gain proper access. If you do go there, the large o-ring from a OM617 oil filter housing will function as a suitable replacement gasket.

i just went thru this,i bought my 86sdl and before i got it they said it had a fuel leak,which they fixed,well when the guy dropped it off he said it had an oil leak and showed me the spot in the trailer which was about the size of a softball,which i was not told about so i get looking and it was running off the motormount,well i got a mirror and could see where it was leaking and just how they supposedly fixed it(with a full,and i'm not $#iting you,tube of silicone)well you can remove the cover it just takes a very good hand and a number 27 torx bit,i actually used an actual socket bit,as it is not as tall,as a 1/4 inch socket with a 27 bit in it.because the back screw up against the block has very shallow clearance,otherwise the bolts came out fine,i didn't have a seal but the one that was there was intact so i ran a bead of silicone on the cover then pressed the seal into it and another bead over the top and stuck it on,and leak is gone,i will mention to try to take the back inner screw out first,if you can get it out your home free.
