Well today, I found a 1985 500 SEL in the junk yard. Bit of an odd car, never seen one like it... euro model maybe? Very odd... The sticker in the engine bay said it had a 5.0 liter V6, but it was CLEARLY a V8. Anyway, in about 3 hours worth of work, we had the entire rear sub frame assembly out of the car in my friends 300-TD wagon. got the entire thing for $140, including a set of Mercedes 15" wheels with tires!

Anyone know any info on this car I got the diff from? It has the same mounting as mine did, so I should not have any issues with bolting it up I'd assume. It looks to have cooling fins on the rear of the diff, that looks to be the only differance between my broken diff and this one. anyone know any info about the ratio of this unit?

Well, get ready to enjoy the 2.47:1 club. Everybody in the club is very pleased with the results.

You might even have an LSD diff there. Turn the pinion gear and see if both axles rotate in the same direction.
