Om602.911 & Om602.961 differences?
Hi, I'm from Australia, I have a 1987 190d 2.5, somewhere down the track I plan to supercharge it(nothing drastic, about 130-140hp) but according to the Finnish forum(Mersuforums) the OM602.911 engine is internally different to the OM602.961 & can't really handle forced induction, is this true? If so, other than ofcourse the turbo what are the differences?
Can the differences of the 602.961 engine be economically applied to the 602.911 or would I be better off getting a whole 602.961(baring in mind there aren't any in Australia)? The Haines manuals certainly never go into the difference, they say the engines are "essentially identical" |

The cylinder head on the OM602.961 is also different from the the non-turbo 602.911. The turbo head has larger prechamber bores and cooling systems changes. Injectors and injection pumps are also different.
