Strange 87 300D Engine
I found a picture of a european version of the 87 300D, and the engine is really odd. Notice the plastic box on the driver's side? Is that the air cleaner? Also, this one doesn't have a tach, it just has a really big clock where the tach should be.

That's a normally-aspirated 603.

yes, if possible zoom in and get the casting # off the intake box
I need an intake manifold like that for my Intercooler project! I am planning on routing air from the turbo straight down into the IC (which will reside under the bumper) and then up the left side into the intake manifold. No crossover!

I'm just curious if the manifold is better suited to build a turbo off of versus our emission one.

I'd like to know what the tube is going valvecover and to the intake.

Sorry, I don't have any more pics, I had found this one for sale on ebay. Auction closes tomorrow if anyone is interested. Car looks nice, I had written the seller to find out the # stamped on the head, but he never wrote back.

The seller cancelled all the bidding, saying that the engine quits. Well, well, this says a lot for buyers of cars that are sold "as is" on Ebay. Imagine, buying the car and the engine died the next day (I'm taking the seller's word, maybe he has other motives!)

I am ok that it was withdrawn! If it had been earlier, last month I had access to a W124 witha 5-speed in it
You know, that baby would be a real nice car with a stick shift in her. Oh well I like the turbo 603 engine better Gotta Go! Get Outta My Way!

Looks like a regular NA 603 to me.
I imagin finding certain parts in this country would be fun.

Those 603 manifolds are just like the 103 ones. Oh well, not sure if it'd be easier to build a turbo header from those or use the existing DOT one.
