Vacuum Leak 240D
I have a vacuum leak in the central locking system. So far it isn't the fuel door or the trunk. I have removed the panel on one of the rear doors to replace the window seal and check that actuator.
Problem is how is it removed without taking the entire lock system apart? Chris |
Should be lever activated from the diaphragm. Best way to gut the system is disconnect all the vac lines in each door panel and plug the rubber boots with golf tees on the firewall side that feed the yellow and green vacuum lines. Then the central locking system will never give you a problem again. However you will be left with a trunk lock that either locks itself all the time or needs the key to lock it up. Pull the rubber panel at the transom and you can activate the lock system manually to be set to work either way.

There is a slide connector at the top end of the vacuum pod. You slide the connector sleeve up and the metal rod that goes to the door lock can be removed. Check for the rubber sleeve to be cracked on the bad pod. This instruction is for the later, black vac pods.

Thanks, I thought it was threaded. I noticed all you have to do is pull the rod and block one of the ports. If it blows air when youo let go it's good.
