1990 300D turbo with 5 cyl engine?
Hello everyone.
I wanted to ask you guys if the 1990 300D turbo was available with a 5 cyl engine? I've been looking around for a 300D turbo, and I found one in really good shape, but is has a 5 cyl engine. I think that's odd. I thought that the 5 cyl engine was discontinued after the 603 engine was launched. Thanks for any advice |

Sure, there was a W124 5 cylinder turbo diesel sold from 1990.5 thru 1993 - - a truly great Benz diesel, IMO.
They are badged "2.5 Turbo" on the deck lid.

You can even occasionally stumble upon a grey market 124 with an OM601 four cylinder diesel.
The OM602 (fiver) is an excellent engine. |

Thanks for the info guys! I'll take a drive around with it, to see how it feels. I really like this car, quite a beauty.
I know the five cylinder engine is great. I already own a 1982 300D and its great how everything works on this old benz. |

can the head and intake be swapped between the two engines? I always wanted the strength of the 5cyl. 3.0l with the power and efficiency of the opposing intake and exhaust 2.5l.
