Yes this is VERY impressive. The data here was fairly old. They went on to say that turbo technology has gone to 3 stages and beyond. The tractors in the book are older looking tractors. The reason I brought it up was the fact that with an intercooler, bigger turbo, and more fuel you can run MUCH more horsepower and the bottom end of many diesel engines can take it.

I would not recommend this for anyone's classic mb diesel, except for the most experimental projects. But it is still a very interesting insight into turbo technology, and also just how incredibly efficiently mercedes made use of the power.

I will still try to scan that page and post it.

There were turbo kits available for the 240D. They are pretty rare.

I think it is a lot more practical to buy a turbo 300D. If you don't like the 240D, sell it. Buy what you want.

These cars are made to go places, not to go fast. The idea that going faster is safer is a fallacy.

Yes the idea that these will be fast cars is not realistic. I would've been interested, just out of curiosity as to what those turbo kits were like. I heard that installing a turbo on these non turbo motors would melt the pistons. Did they use and intercooler?

No.........it's not a fallacy. If you get there faster, there is less time available for a giant $hitbox driven by someone on a cellphone to smash into the side of you..............therefore it's safer.

Or get in a 12-step program.
