Fuel line under tank, W123 sedan
Well, I guess I got the dreaded fuel line blues too. I doubt it is completly the fault of LSD, but Im sure it didnt help. Anyways, anybody know the part # or a source for the fuel line that comes from the bottom of the tank, passes under the car to a metal fuel line? Its about 5-6 inches long with a braided material covering and a metal fitting on the end going into the tank. Its on a 1982 300D sedan, turbodiesel. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks. -TB

Unless you want to have the part look the same as the origional, you can remove the line, grind off the swagged collar and replace the hose with standard fuel line and a hose clamp.

Hose replacement kit
I got the hose replacement kit from dieselgiant.com and replaced all of the hose on my 240d, since a couple had been replaced, and some were original. When I went to do the hose you spoke of (tank to metal line) I found out the hose was leaking under the braid and weeping fuel at the rate of a few drops per day.

I ordered the kit from Mercedes source yesterday, hopefully it will be here by this weekend. I hate losing fuel onto the ground, especially at 2.95 a gallon.

Hey,
I believe I have the same leak on the 92 300D w124. How do you get at this hose? Do you have to remove the fuel tank or can you get at it from under the car? Thanks... -m

I just replaced both lines on my 240D due to 'biodiesel-damage'. Easy task, you can get to them from underneath. I'm not sure if it is as easy on a W124, but check the area right above the rear differential.
