Dash Pods & Parking lights

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my buddy who owns a repair shop agreed to replace all my dash pods in exchange for me wiring his new mobile machine shop.

He was very meticulous and labeled parts as well as photographed some areas before disassembly.

I got the car back today and the AC now works great, even the temp wheel has some function now.

The only problem is now the left front parking light does not work. The signal works fine. I checked both lamp filaments with an ohmeter and they are intact.

Since the Benz has the option of running two or four parking lights, I believe the wires must run separately from each lamp to the switch. Is anyone familiar enough with this circuit to offer any ideas what might be wrong? Could the switch wires be put back on wrong? I know the lights worked before or I would have noticed the lamp failure indicator on the dash.

From looking at the schematic: http://mb.braingears.com My hunch is fuse 3 is intermittent/blown. Power is provided through fuse 8 and 3 with the LH side through #3.

If this is not the case, then either the bulb or grounding (corroded socket) is suspect.

Well Sam I think you are right. I opened the fuse box and according to the legend on mine #8 is the left side park & tail. I wiggled it a bit then tried the switch and it worked. Then I realized I should have turned the switch on first before I touched it, this would have proven it! Anyway I took the fuse out and sanded the ends. A couple years ago I sanded all the fuses and scoured the sockets, I guess it's time again.

That's good to hear! I've need to get around to purchasing one of those CD's. Waiting at the coffe shop for that pdf file to load takes forever. (only dail-up @ home)

(BTW, Sam is short for Samuel )
