Fuel tank sender unit on 1983 300sd

Does anyone know the length of the cannister on the fuel level sender. The car is a 1983 300SD. Pretty random quesiton but Im positive that someone on this board knows the answer. thanks

Replaced alternator, fan and power steering belts
Replaced positive battery terminal
Replaced negative battery terminal and cord

AS I recall, it's about 14 inches long and 1.5 inches diameter.
