1983 300SD Stall after startup

My 300sd is pretty strong. I have not tested compression or other diagnostics but the engine still pulls hard and I have not noticed any loss of power since I've had the car. I change the fuel filters a little while ago and everything seemed to be ok. Now when I start the car, it will idle well for about 10-15 seconds and then get really rough and stall out unless i rev the engine. If I rev the engine, the car will run fine and will not come close to stalling on me. Also, I do not seem to have this problem when the engine is warm, ie not the first start of the day, i do not have this problem. It also seems that there is some diesel leaking from the main fuel filter area. I tried to tighten up the bolts around the main fuel filter and this seem like it helpd but only for 1 or 2 starts of the engine. Any suggestions would be really apreciated. Thanks

My guess is you have a leak in one of the banjo fittings or on the fuel filter that is allowing air to enter the fuel system when the car is parked. Try replacing all of the crush washers (one on each side of the banjo fittings and one under the bolt that attaches the spin on filter) and see if that does the trick.

Alright thanks. I'm assuming those are the small metal washers and that my local dealer should have em.
