Lazer Cut Keys???? What year!!
What year did MBZ come out with Lazer cut key? I just got back from the Dealer with a key for a 1982 123, by VIN number and they sent me a Lazer cut key. It does not fit my other 82 or 83 benz as they have a standard double cut key. My 84 euro car has a Lazer cut but I have a key for it.
Please answer as fast as you can as I'm leaving to pick up this car early in the morning, before sun-up. Thanks

My 1982 300SD has laser cut keys. However something to keep in mind is the ignition tumbler from a 123 chassis will fit into your car. The 123's did not come with the laser cut keys. I found this out when my ignition cylender broke because of a bad key and my mechanic replaced mine with a 123's until a vin coded cylender could be ordered.

Same thing happened to me this week for my 84 300D. Called the parts counter and they sorted out that the guy who executed the order used a 300SD part number. Wrong key style. They will get my replacements by Tuesday next week

Sure hate to make a 300 mile round trip to find out the key does not fit. He ordered it by the vin number and Chassis number so it should fit, so he says. He also said that they started the lazer cut keys in 1981 which does not sound right as my 240 and other 300D have a simple double cut key. I wonder if it was an option????
