cracked alda housing

Help! I have an 87 300d turbo i just bought, and the alda housing is cracked. It has a new injector pump, looks like the guy who put it in knocked the alda into something and bent and cracked the housing right where the narrow cylinder on top meets the wider body of the alda where the hose connection is. Anybody know of a place to get a replacement? I can't find one online

The ALDA is not sold separately from the IP, so if you need a brand new one you will have to spend money on the IP . Get a used one here:

Alda gooped up

OK, I got the alda off my 603 engine and it holds no pressure since the top cover is cracked. I gooped some epoxy paste over the cracks and will try it out tomorrow. Does anyone know how much pressure the Alda should be able to hold if I hook it up to my mityvac? I assume it needs to be able to hold boost pressure, since that's what it's responding to, so that's around 15 psi? I will probably replace it anyways but I want to reinstall it and see if the new (used) turbo I just installed is working...

Epoxied alda works!

I gooped my alda up with epoxy and put it in and it works. I have no adjustment b/c the adjusting screw under the cover is probably bent and I don't want to "screw" with it. Also, I covered it with epoxy just in case it was leaking up there too. I could probably shim it up, but I plan to replace it with a used one. Speaking of shims, anybody have a source for bosch official alda shims or any other usable alternative? I could use some shims until I score that new (used) alda.

Shimmed alda

Ok, i shimmed the alda using a copper washer from the oil drain plug ground down on the outside, and the car does zero to sixty in about 12 sec now! It is dark out, so I don't know how much smoke it's making, but I can see it in the headlites of cars behind me. Not big clouds, just a small cloud right when I take off. Can I kill my car or dirty up my fuel system exhaust system or engine if the car is running too rich? I want to drive it to work tomorrow...

I'm no MB tech, but my experience is that you will pretty much always see "smoke" in the headlights of the cars behind you at night, but in the daytime you will never see it!, My VW's and my Toyota diesels always do what you describe, to me its normal
