My '98 E300D For Sale in Albuquerque, NM

As much as I hate to do this, the need to restructure my finances forces the sale of my car.

The good:
Bought from original owner who sold it to buy a new diesel. He was a maintenance fanatic. He had every service performed at the proper interval. I have all the records.

Car has been garage kept its entire life.

Rebuilt front end plus new Bilstien shocks.

New glow plugs.

Newer Michellin tires.

Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

New glow plugs.

The bad:
The sunroof does not work. Was told the cable is broken.

The car has 147,000 miles. I think it is hands down one of the nicest looking 210 diesels on the road. The previous owner (and me during the short time I've owned it) took extremely good care of the car and it shows. Asking price is $14,900.

Here are some more pics. In the trunk you will see a 6 disc changer and a custom made sunvisor in its case. The car also has a stock subwoofer under the rear seat. The stereo is very nice.

As you can see from the other pics, the car is CLEAN.

It will be very difficult to find a Mercedes that has been maintained like this one since day one. The previous owner had every service performed when required. I have all of his records. Anything that normally needs to be done at this mileage has already been done (front end, glow plugs, shocks, serpentine belt). This is a really nice car. Please let me know if you have any specific questions. I will be happy to answer them or take more pics if needed.

You're too far away for me to consider your car, I'm afraid, even though I am actively looking for one. But could you please post a picture of that subwoofer?

MattL: I took out the rear seat last night. The subwoofer is on the driver's side but is not easily accessible as it covered by the metal for the seat frame so I couldn't get a picture of it.

For everyone else: Any comments on price/condition? I really wasn't too sure about the market on these cars now but I think I have it priced fairly. I am a little surprised there hasn't been more interest here. The car will appear in the AutoTrader this weekend. I would rather see it go to someone here.

Too bad about the sub. I was hoping to see if the newer stuff would fit the older model, of course.

As I said, it's really too bad the car isn't a whole lot closer to me. The fact that you have service records is attractive, and should help you get your asking price. If it's as you describe (and I suspect it is), I'd probably pay it.

I am all set with my '98 E300D, but knowing the experts on this board and the uncertainty of the W210, I'd take some pictures of the potential rust areas like the trunk lid, doors (fold back the seal on top of the door), and a real close-up of the spring perch area. I'd also include a photo of the build certificate thingy on the door jam as early '98s had a higher likelyhood of transmission issues. Also, take a picture of a thermometer infront of the vents with the A/C on full to prove you've got a charged and sealed system.
