Questionaire...:) (slightly off topic)

I have one question for all of you.... kind of a psycological thing with the love affair of cars

How do you feel when you're driving around in your Mercedes Benz?

Proud?
Elite?
Rich?
Competative (ie: give BMW and Volvo drivers dirty looks)?

or Just How do you feel?

Another Question: When you drive your Benz, and you drive over a pot-hole does it actualy "hurt"?

I feel I'm in a better made car than most others out there. I see the value in older MB's vs something like a ford/chevy/chrysler of similar price.

Internally: I feel proud (when the Turbo Diesel came back in 1998, I said that someday I would own one), smart, comfortable, at peace, safe, basically like I have no cares in the world and would love to keep driving.

Externally: I really do not care for outward appearances and do things for my own logical reasons, regardless of the thoughts/comments of others, but if anything I would typically feel embarassed. People think the wrong things like it is brand new and costs a tremendous amount of money, yet they paid double what I did for their SUV or Pickups. The looks of bewilderment when they realize it is 8 years old with 93,000 on it and costs less then the Hyundai they bought their kid, as they say is, Priceless.

My mercedes is a tool....nothing else. Granted, it's a little nicer tool than the Pontiac I used to drive, but still, it's just a tool.

When I replace it, some day, with a McLaren SLR...then I'll have to re-comment.

I think that sums it up perfectly. Even though my car was ailing (suspension noises and such) I'd look at that star and my pride would be restored and the things wrong ith my car all become a part of it's character.

I think (don't know who's banner) "the cars with the three pointed star embody a special kind of spirit" and it's VERy true. I feel connected to my car when I'm driving it.

i feel proud that i'm driving around in a 'real' mercedes-benz rather than one of the yuppie poseur toyota corolla-esque c-class pos's that are popular in my area. you have to look twice with those cars, but one look at the old 240d and there's no doubt, even from people who don't know their ear from their elbow when it comes to cars, that it's a mercedes. it's nice because i know of three w123's in my town, along with several w126's, and the rest are all c230 'sport sedans' and those god-awful r350's that somehow have found a following with the gluttonous american mcmansion pig crowd looking to get rid of their yukon denali xl's in favour of something more 'economical'. i need to move to europe.

I feel very proud to drive my mercedes. not because its a mercedes, but because it has lasted 23 years with no signs of giving up. what american POS do u know that can run that long and have no problems??

You ask how i feel if i run over a pot hole? heck i feel bad when i have to many people in the car and put a straighn on the engine, and if i turn a corner to fast or brake to hard, it makes me feel like crap 2. so a pot hole, yes, i do hurt

Muscle car Revenge

I'm reminded of a coupl times where I'd be out cruising in my 300SD.

One time, I was stopped at a light and I had this rice burning crappy honda with a 15 storey spoiler pull up to me and purge his nitrous...I made like I was going to race him. the light turned green and off he went..I just accellerated gently and left, and when I caught up to him a few blocks later, he was on the side of the road talking to an RCMP officer. I laughed out my window as I drove by.....

more coming..

Driving down a 70Km/H stretch, and a corvette pulls up next to me and I keep up, then he drops back about 5 blocks, then hammers the pedal and blazez past me. and he gives me the finger...

so later, we're on a single lane road, and he's behind me, being civil for once, and we get to a hill..a fairly steep hill. I'm driving a Mercedes, and he's driving this nice Corvette z06 just washed...with NO TOP ON I saw this and gave out an evil giggle...we get to the hill, and I proceed in "s" to keep going, meanwhile he's riding my tail up the entire hill. Near the top of the hill I throw it into "L" and the engine revs and a HUGE cloud of black Diesel smoke completely envelopes his car. and I reach out the sunroof when the smoke clears and give him MY finger I know, I'm BAD
