How many MB "disasters" have you had in one day?

Yesterday I had an MB "disaster" trifecta. a decidedly mechanically challenged day.

W115 240D - We're on our the way to Santa Monica to work at the aquarium when I see the oil pressure start dropping at freeway speed to 30psi when the car is at idle it drops to 12psi. I stop and see that there is a lot of oil near the head on the IP side. The level is fine but I am worried that the oil pump is damaged or gaskets have blown. I call my mechanic and he which I might add is awesome since he drove 15 miles on a Saturday morning to meet me in at his shop to swap with my other W123 240D which is having the sunroof worked on.

We swap the cars for the W123, drive to a friend's in Redondo to do a diesel purge which was successful and as we are about to leave to meet other friends for dinner (And running late already )I roll up the window and CLUNK....I crank the window some more and the window falls down into the door! I take it apart and see that one of the rivets fell off and so the door cannot be lifted and or put back on the track so I jam a paper towel roll into the window to lift it just enough so that the window won't be open so somoene could steal our stuff when in the restaurant parking lot.

We get to dinner, eat and then leave and then realize the passenger rear door was ajar the whole time. We get back into the car after checking to see if anything was missing and upon starting....RRRR....RRR...RR....then nothing! Dead battery! We push start it fortunately (3 cheers for manual transmissions )and park it nearby to visit the apartment of our dinner friends. After watching a movie we head out and get and time the signal light to commence with my girlfriend's pushing and get the car rolling down the street and as the car reaches the intersection there was an unforseen hump in the middle of the street so the car STOPS dead in the middle of the busy intersection. We give it all we've got and get it across the street get it up to 10mph and pop it into 2nd and we're off! We made it home safely but with a battery that won't crank, a window that doesn't work and another car in the shop!

Perhaps it's the heat and humidity.

Have any of you had that many problems in one day?

i also had that type of oil scenario.mine turned out to be,some idiot stripped the threads on the outer stud of the oil filter housing.then used a heli-coil to fix it.problem was they used the old stripped out stud. Then after i got it temporarily fixed i decided to take it home and drive my other car.stopped at the grocery store.come out and the key turns but ,nothing.the ign lock assy broke.so i had to short the starter with a sidecutters to get it home. Then after i get an ign lock assy from phil,my tumbler decided to lock up.so i had to get a new one of those.good thing it locked up in my hand and not in the new lock assy.

Lost fuel pressure in a 617 diesel. Roadside fix ... Haynes manual has two missprints or otheriwse known as @!#$@! f#@!#$% lies. Spent 3 hours on the side of the road before a $200 tow. Haynes, if your listening, diesels do not have an electric fuel pump. I chasse wires, fuses, pulled rear seat, floor mat, crawled under car being rocked by semi traffic (spare tire under car JIC).
Fault was an OEM prime pump was allowing air into the system. $16, loosen the nuts on the nozzle lines, turn over till fuel sprays, tighten nuts and drive.
I had the tools, knowledge, skill to get the old gal up and running BUT believed in the holy word of the (insert creative terms here) manual.
I was comming home from performing a large fireworks show. I now have a visual implanted in my mind of a unique use of concussion mortars.
Garbage in =s $ out.

heh

Had to pick up my step-son at the airport 60 miles away.
by the time I get there, a rod has already let go.

but I drove it back anyway - didn't have a choice.
we got within 15 miles of home before the fuel filter clogged and had to call a tow (didn't have a damn fuel filter). nevermind that the engine sounded like a wood chipper

gotta love them deisels!

We did make it home safely....it was just sad cause 40% of our fleet was wiped out in 10 hours. Fortunately nothing extremely bad happened, just a lot of inconvenient and fortunately rectifiable problems.

But you're right, they are Mercedes....and you can't roll start just ANY car

Curtis, you're having too much fun!

Nothing like your 180 degree spinning adventure, though!! Glad you got through the day. By the way, how's the red one doing?
