Just picked up the Nell the 115...

...from Thing Two for this weekend's GTG in Centerville.

What a joy that car is; 31 years old and still reliable as the sunrise. Quite possibly the best $1500 I've ever spent on a car.

Other than her gorilla knob, my favorite feature is the 'highway proximity alert'; where after about 10 minutes of highway speed, lifting your foot off of the loud pedal will cause her to generate/emit an Excursion-size cloud of diesel soot.

Safe and effective.

Aww darn it Randy, now you have got me to thinking again that my stable of MBs isn't complete without a W115. I'll never find a decent one, and I have tried....

Yes, that's an excellent feature of the old, dirty diesels. I also learned that if you want to really smoke someone behind you that you could pop the car into neutral on the highway, floor the accelerator pedal to a good rev and then let off it...the only thing you see in the rear view mirror after that is a big black cloud and eventually a car full of coughing passengers once the smoke clears

Interesting that one you found has a 6-digit odo. Mine just has a 5-digit odo.
