Ignorant Owner Wagon Sales Still Exist
To all those that are looking for that illusive treasure, keep the faith! My co-worker (having been turned on to 123's by me) discovered his just this week. He was talking to the worker at the local golfing shop and somehow the person mentioned that his wife was driving a "junky 80's style diesel wagon" and has been bugging him to get a better car. Of course, my pal said that if he wanted to sell, he'd be interested in buying.
Cut to today. I was checking it out in our work parking lot. It's a 84 with ~123k and is *totally rust free* !! Better yet, crack free dash and almost mint interior. That, and the AC works fine. It's the very light beige color with the light brown MBTex. No sign of leaks under the carpets! What did he pay for the "junky wagon" ? Try $1200. WAGONPILOT |

As the late great Jerry Garcia sang..."I want to say it to my sisters and my brothers....keep the faith."
Nice snag!....I wish I had bought a wagon in '02 when I bought my car.

Which is the rarity?
Is it rare to find the wagons or DIESEL wagons? I've always admired the Mercedes wagons even though I hate station wagons in general.

That's not ignorant. What's ignorant is the prices you see on ebay for these things.

If you wanted a gas powered station wagon, you had to import a gray market one from Germany, and very few people did that's why there are so few 200T, 230TE and 280TE wagons around. (Or you could buy a GM Olds Delta 88 wagon with the 350V8 "Diesel" engine disaster.) I believe with the exception of the W123 280E sedans, about all the W123 cars sold in the USA were diesel only. I don't mind station wagons, they are handy for moving stuff, and they have been replaced by the SUV today in the USA. Station wagons are still popular in Europe, though they are small and usually powered by small diesel engines. A few are bigger, like Audi and Mercedes, and are pretty nice!
