W124 Swapped 89 differential on 87 - flex disk and differential flange don't mate
I finally got around to changing out my differential on my 87 300td. Thought I was home free only to find that the differential flange and the flex disk don't mate. Can I swap the differential flanges? or the flex disk?

What do you mean by different? Size, bolt hole distance, thickness?

The bolt holes don't line up. I measured the out side distance of the flanges, the flanges on the new differential are 4 1/2" while the old is 4". I took the drive shaft with the flex disk out to see if it mated up to the old differential...fits perfect. But I can't get the bolt holes to line up on the new differential. How difficult is it to change the differential flange? and How do I do it? The flex disk is new as is the drive shaft intermediate bearing.
