Brake Line Replacement - Torque? Fittings??
My search has revealed wise men and fools (the fools had the VW transporter and compression fittings on brake lines).
While underneath the car, investigating the neutral safety switch (no white back-up lights) I came across a WET fuel/brakeline bracket. No diesel smell - Brakes! Took off the bracket and MAJOR corrosion on the brake line. Didn't take much to get a good healthy flow of brake fluid. Forget the back up lights. New Priority. Fuel lines look good until you arrive at the tank. Bad juju. Replace those too while I'm there. So my investment of time and money grows. My question - How about reusing the fittings from the original lines?? Tips and Tricks? And how about Torque on those fittings? This will be my first major brake job and I want to know that everything is 100%. Thanks guys, this forum is a wealth and without it I'd be up a creek. I figure the PO owes me one for taking this beast off his hands one week ago.
