What was your answer, William? OH ....a '73 450SEL would be sweet- has the proper (basically euro bumpers) long chassis....I am drooling. Is this in south FL?

You guys who cornered the market on TDs had the right idea. Wish I had thought of that earlier.

Rick

You can have too many MBs?
A low rust 116 would be sweet. I don't care if a 450 is a gas hog. Tried to buy a repo 450SEL from a finance company a few years back. Car had normal (for Cincy) rust and finance guy wanted a fortune. I think the fool had the high price on it right up to the day it went to the salvage yard. He probably only got a couple hundred bucks for it in the end. Hopefully the finance company took the loss. Wish I had a wagon. Missed out on buying one about 15 years ago. Bought Volvo GLT wagan instead. Lovely car. Slower than a 123 240D auto with the A/C on from a stop. Still wish I had bought that TD instead.

It's odd isn't it - what is it about these old Benzes that make us want more? I'm always looking for more - ALWAYS. I know of several in my neighborhood that I'm "watching", I have a line of three more near my work. Good ones!

My collection is really only limited by my ability to provide adequate shelter. If I were in Texas, well......

Like a friend told me, you know you are on the right track when you have one stored at a friend's place because you have no more room left at home. Bonus points if it's 15 below and you're working outside on one that isn't your daily driver, while work on your wife's rig ISN'T getting done. lol

Four Benz' may be enough for me now... but I'm starting to look at 560 SEC's. I'm probably going to end up with one 123 and a 126, if I play my cards right.

The collection - parts as well?

Do you guys find this applies to parts as well.?

I seem to have a growing collection of parts for jobs that need to be done but aren't quite critical yet - replacement cruise amp, hood cable, driver's door handle, ......

Nope, parts are essential.

There can never be too many parts. Completely different category.

Start explaining it to the wife like above, and I guarantee she rolls her eyes and walks away from you like you're crazy. She'll stop complaining when she gets answers like that.

Oh yeah parts. I have the luxury of a good upullit yard not far away that has specials. I am so spoiled that I call up on Fridays to see what's on sale that weekend. Then go to the yard- hey there's a 240D with a rebuilt starter. Starters are on sale for $6. Grab it. Dust it off when I need it. And so on. I have picked up bundt wheels with tires that still have the nubs on them for $15. If I keep these cars long enough, the parts will be used.

It may be hoarding but, I NEVER throw away an pld MBZ part that I've removed/replaced.
